Chairman of Department
Physics is the study of the physical world around us in relation to matter and energy. From the day we are born we study the things around us in an effort to understand how they work and relate to each other and make them clearer. The primary objective of the department of Physics is to provide a sound training to a B.Sc. degree in Physics. The department also aims at providing adequate service courses required by other disciplines. To achieve this fundamental objective, the department also seeks to: Bachelor of Science in Physics Master of Science in Physics Doctor of Philosophy in Physics CATEGORIES OF PHYSICS STUDENTS The department shall offer 4 physics course units in the first year of study and 4 physics course units in the second year of study to students taking physics as one of their main subjects of study. Students not taking physics as one of their main subjects may take only one physics unit per semester in year 1 and/or year 2. however such students shall not be allowed to proceed with physics in year 3. In the third and fourth years of study the students taking Physics as their main subject of study may opt to be: Note: Physics projects in year 4 is only for majors and specialists. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS In addition to the general University entry requirements, the candidate who wants to continue with physics in the third and fourth years of study must have obtained the following in the subjects indicated: Mathematics – B- Physics- B- Chairman/Senior LecturerIntroduction
We also attempt to describe them through formulation of simple rules and principles. It is the continued scrutiny of everything we know about the world around us that leads to the lifelong study of Physics. Sometimes when we look at
things closely we discover things that we had overlooked initially. Physics gives students the opportunity to observe, measure, analyze and draw relevant conclusions about phenomena around them. Objectives
